Benei haelohim can be translated as “sons of the gods” or those who followed other gods rather than The Almighty. I find it interesting that they married the daughters of “ha’adam” or daughters of Adam who were righteous. These wicked men saw Adams daughters were beautiful in appearance and character.
Nephil has the root meaning of a brutish, “lumberjack” type person. It comes from them “felling” trees.
